referral to a psychologist under a mental health care plan

Note that if you wish to be referred to a psychologist, your GP may be able to prepare a Mental Health Care Plan which will entitle you to a Medicare rebate for some of your psychology consultations. You should see your regular GP for this.

If you don't have a regular GP, the GPs working from North Brighton Medical are more than happy for you to begin seeing them as your regular GP. However, the GPs normally cannot prepare a Mental Health Care Plan for new patients in their initial consultation. Instead, you can book a mental health consultation as your initial appointment, during which you can discuss your mental health concerns. Following this, if appropriate, your GP will suggest you book a follow-up consultation with them so that they can prepare a Mental Health Care Plan for you.
